zine Submissions
Rulez
At Asta’Violet we welcome a diverse range of speculative fiction submissions, from “Smol Thoughts” 10-100 words flash fiction, to longer works “They Cookin” 200-600 words and full-length stories “Keen Beans” 1000-2000 words. We accept a wide variety of genres and styles, please see our About Us page for more details. submissions must be written in Australian English. If part of your work is in another language please provide translations, whether the language is real or invented!. We are also accepting artwork, but please note that the work must be digital as we simply do not have the capacity to accept physical art. If the artwork you want to submit is physical send us photos or scanned copies that you would be happy being in the zine!
We will only be accepting submissions from adults (18+ years old) within Australia at this time. We will not be able to accept work with lots of spelling and grammatical errors. A few is fine! We do suggest you review your work before submitting!
As we are a small venture, feedback will be limited. We will, however, try to provide feedback as often as we can.
If you have submitted your work to us and it’s been accepted elsewhere, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We will accommodate changes to your submission status and withdraw your work from consideration.
We do not accept hate speech or work intended to harm or demean or marginalise individuals or communities. Similarly, we reject any fiction that aims to exacerbate the queer experience or perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for creatives to share their imaginative work with an audience, so please keep your submissions respectful, thought-provoking and true to the spirit of speculative fiction.
We do not accept AI generated works. We want to support creative humans. We understand that many applications and websites use AI in their tech, we want to hear your voices and see your art.
We will accept multiple submissions but please be aware that you will only be allowed one entry to be accepted per issue. This is so that we can allow a wide range of voices to be heard.
Outcomez
If your work isn’t accepted for an issue you’ll receive an email letting you know as soon as possible! Just because it doesn’t get into this one doesn’t mean it won’t be perfect for the next issue!
In the speculative future where your work is accepted into the zine we will send you a confirmation email! Congratulations!
You, the artist or author, retain the copyright ownership of your material. We believe in fostering a culture of creative freedom and respect for an artist/author’s property. Accepted applicants will of course feature in the issue and receive a copy of the zine.
Note from the editor: Any and all submissions are greatly appreciated. Your time and creative work is important and whether our first issue gets one submission or one hundred we want to say thank you for submitting to us.
